This year we will have 4 paramedic and EMT’s headed to Portland, Maine.
A.J. Moreland is a Paramedic with Eglin Air Force Base EMS, employed by Reliable and Loyal Management. A.J. has been in the EMS field for over seven years on both sides of the court of fire and EMS. He has lived in the panhandle of Florida for most of his life. He holds an Associate’s degree and is finishing his Bachelor’s in Emergency Medical Servics from the University of South Alabama this year and will be pursuing USA’s Physician Assistant program. He also owns and operates a training consultation firm, teaching an array of EMS and fire courses in the panhandle area. He is an avid cyclist and enjoys participating in triathlons and surfing. He is married to his beautiful wife Stephanie of almost five years and his daughter will be turning one this year. This is his second year participating in the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride and is excited about representing the local EMS brothers and sisters again.
Ryan Howard is an EMT with Lifeguard Ambulance Services ground operation out of Santa Rosa County, Fl. Ryan is currently finsishing Paramedic school at Pensacola Junior College. He is a graduate of the University of North Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and is on track to pursue either a Physician’s Assistant program or medical school. Ryan relocated to the panhandle to be closer with his brother and his family. He enjoys spending time with his almost two years old niece and loves to babysit her. While off the clock, Ryan enjoys all types of physical activities, including surfing, scuba diving, BMX biking, triathlons, and weight lifting. This is Ryan’s second year participating in the EMS memorial bike ride and excited to represent the panhandle as well.
Brian Lara is an EMT-B with the United States Air Force, currently stationed at Eglin Air Force Base. Brian has been in the military approximately 8 years. He is originally from Hayward, California and has played almost every sport including basketball and baseball in High School. Brian loves the outdoors and is always looking for some type of adventure and hopes joining the bike team hopefully will satisfy that craving. Working out and staying fit are one of his favorite hobbies. Brian takes great pride in the EMT profession and he only hopes he can contribute enough to this charity to help the families of our fallen fellow EMS brothers.
Amy is an EMT that previously worked for Lifeguard Ambulance. Over the last two months, she packed her bags and headed back to her hometown of Tempe, Arizona where she resides with her two incredibly, beautiful bloodhound puppies. She is stoked to say she now works for Southwest Ambulance. Along with cycling, Amy enjoys running, basketball, and anything that makes her heart pump. She has recently graduated with a degree in Architecture, but if she sought a job in that career field in today’s economy, she would be unemployed. Amy is thrilled to be a first timer in the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride and is training hard!
